?ajdinica Dirlo is a hidden gem in Sarajevo.
Although just a hole in the wall, this small, dingy shop is a mystery waiting to be unraveled. Its interior is enchanting, made perfect with rustic murals, antique pots and jars, colorful magic carpets, and the unrestrained scent of exotic tea leaves that lingers in the air.
Located on a slope of a busy street, the tea house offers curious guests a variety of specially concocted infusions. Guests will be greeted by the pair of owners with the warmest smiles, and those who are unsure about their choices can seek assistance which will be readily offered.

A friend of mine was impressed with the reviews and ratings of the tea house on TripAdvisor, and suggested that we should give it a visit. From the way he has described it, I was expecting to see a modern, Starbucks-like cafe located on the main street. It turned out to be nowhere close to how Ive imagined it to be, and it was also tricky to find as the entire city is crammed with narrow, unorganized streets with tricky intersections here and there. However, the little hunt was worthwhile, as we were treated with warm hospitality and great drinks upon arrival:
Bosanska Kahva served in a dezva, along with candies, sugar cubes, and sweet tea |
A glass of warm, delicious Salep, which was perfect for the rainy day |

?ajdinica Dirlo is definitely a place with the most soul in Sarajevo, making it a great start for those who want to get to know the city and the locals better. Books and magazines are readily available for travelers who plan on doing nothing but sipping on good tea and lazing through the day. Salep is a must-try here, even if you have tasted the ones made in Turkey.
